Developing a Communication Strategy

Hello all,

This is the second installation in my class project of creating a design strategy. If you have not done so already, please check out the first post in the series, Where to Begin Your PR Analysis. This post highlights the research process of my design strategy, which is so important in creating an effective communication strategy. In order to truly know how to achieve the goals your organization wants to accomplish, you must have a good understanding of where it stands. If you don't do your research, you won't know how to develop an organization.

Today we're diving into the development of a communication strategy. This is just a brainstorming session. Using questions provided for my class, I will try to develop an idea of what the business card for Diamond K Leather Co. should look like.

What kind of visual language will you use?

I will use a mix of words and images. I will need to include the name of the company, the logo and contact information.

Will the visuals be type or image-driven?

Most of the visuals will be typed to keep it clean and professional. The name of the company will probably be image driven with the use of the logo.

What do the type and images need to mean?

The type and images need to encourage people to contact the owner. They should be captivating and attention grabbing but not overwhelming.

What connotations do they need to have?

They need to show authenticity. We want the card to be professional and inviting, allowing the work to speak for itself. We need to convey trust, hard work and simplicity.
